A letter from overseas

Hi @ll,

today I received a letter from Canada with some nice goodies:

Cynthia has sent me these cute fabric labels. It is her own design and she has an amazing talent in that.

I follow her blog just round about two years now and I am still impressed of her creative work.
These labels are available on spoonflower, where Cynthia already has won the weekly fabric design contest twice ( and I am really sure that she will win some other).

Cynthia, thank you so much for this great surprise :).

At the moment I am working on crocheted socks. I will show you a picture when half of the work is done. They seems a bit small although I have choosen a bigger size than needed.

To my SMS winners: I hope you have received your prizes. I know I have sent them a bit too late (sorry for that), but I was ill and we had also a huge price reduction on the shipping costs on 1st January.

Super Style Bag Swap by Sew, mama, Sew!

Hi there,

the Super Style Bag Swap is already over for a while.
I have participated and it was really fun :). My partner was Kristina from Slovenia and I have sewn a "Julie-bag" for her:

Kristina was very fast with the bag she had sewn for me. It is a shoulder bag and it it is really nice. I love the red contrast zipper:

I use this bag very often :).

The reason for posting about this bag swap so late, was my further education which includes a lot of learning all those new medical terms. This is a totaly new part for me but it is also really interesting.
And my old PC got out of order and I have a new one now.

Kristina, I hope you have the same fun with the bag I have sewn for you as I have with your bag you have sewn for me :).

Isabella....

...is an ebook-pattern from farbenmix.

It includes three variations of bags, which are all nice.

I have sewn the messanger bag. A pattern review in German will follow on my other blog (take a look at my bloglist).

And here is my bag:

A new pencil case......

.... for me :).

I need it because I am back school since October 1st. For the next two years I make a further education in medical documentation.

The pencil case pattern was published in August this year on the Sew Mama Sew-blog.

I have used an Alexander Henry Fabric and an unknown brand fabric in black with white dots for the lining.

From these fabrics I have also planned to sew a great bag. I have already cut it out and ironed on the interfacing. I hope I have time to sew it this week.

Spoonflowers test-swatches received

yeah, I was so excited to get them, and yes they are great, but......

..it is not the colour I have expected.

The swatches have a size of 8" x 8" what is round about 20cm x 20 cm:

and these are the original designs:

Now the real work has to be done: to change the colours like I want to have them. For that I need to have the colour chart be printed at spoonflower. I think in four weeks I will get them.

So time enough to do other things, perhaps some sewing ;)?.

oh oh julie

lalalalalala.....

at the beginning 80s i loved this song from shakin stevens. to my excuse: i was young *g*.

today i still like julie very much but not the song, it's the e-book pattern from griselda. and this is my julie now:

this pattern is really great and the instructions are easy to follow. and it gives you a really great combination of fabrics to use. I think that another julie will follow :).

and the backing:

that was my first quilting project, especially the free motion quilting. it is not perfect but it was made with love :). and it was really fun to sew.

i like the green tablerunner very much and my parents too (here in germany we got the presents at christmas eve :)).

the one for my aunt is a bit strange. not my colour and i think the combination of the fabrics could have been better. tomorrow i will visit my aunt and anyhow i hope she will like it.

to all of you a very happy christmas :).

sewing again

yes, it's true, I am sewing again.

I have started the last weekend with a present for my grandaunt. She will get a tablerunner. I haven't finished it yet, still the top is ready. It is the anna banana pattern from Pink Chalk Studio and I have chosen the small one.
I am not really happy with it because I don't like the colours but it will fit perfectly for my aunt:

My parents will get also one in green fabrics.

This weekend I have sewn something for me. Some decoration for my advent wreath, four tiny christmastrees:

Let's get started

hi to @ll :)

i think its time now to get started with my blog.

the last few weeks I have reflect, if it is really a good idea to blog in english.
but hey, i have a lot english sewing books an thread magazines, to read harry potter in english is more enjoyable than in german and i understand what i read. ok, not nearly every word, but the content. and that is important to me. so my english cannot be as bad as i always thought.

so, on topic now:

i will get rid of my fabric stash. not of all the fabrics of course ;), but i have to reduce it because the space gets short (and i cannot stop buying fabrics, but i try to buy less...).
my goal is to sew more than i buy. I have started with counting on 01. april 2009.

since april 13,2 meters have left my stash, but to my shame i have to admit that i have bought 24,8 meters. so no reduction at all :(. I will keep on working on this.

but now i will show some of my fabric stash:

Photobucket

and within the next few days i will show what i have sewn since april :)

ciao,

Pepie
