my first crocheted sock

Hi,

yesterday I have finished my first chrocheted sock:

I have crocheted it in size 42/43 using a needle no. 3. That is a bit bigger than I needed but the sock is still a bit too narrow. Ok, it is wearable but the next pair has to be a bit bigger.
Fortunately  I have some other yarn in stash for testing another pair of socks (after I have finished the first pair of course).

A letter from overseas

Hi @ll,

today I received a letter from Canada with some nice goodies:

Cynthia has sent me these cute fabric labels. It is her own design and she has an amazing talent in that.

I follow her blog just round about two years now and I am still impressed of her creative work.
These labels are available on spoonflower, where Cynthia already has won the weekly fabric design contest twice ( and I am really sure that she will win some other).

Cynthia, thank you so much for this great surprise :).

At the moment I am working on crocheted socks. I will show you a picture when half of the work is done. They seems a bit small although I have choosen a bigger size than needed.

To my SMS winners: I hope you have received your prizes. I know I have sent them a bit too late (sorry for that), but I was ill and we had also a huge price reduction on the shipping costs on 1st January.

Super Style Bag Swap by Sew, mama, Sew!

Hi there,

the Super Style Bag Swap is already over for a while.
I have participated and it was really fun :). My partner was Kristina from Slovenia and I have sewn a "Julie-bag" for her:

Kristina was very fast with the bag she had sewn for me. It is a shoulder bag and it it is really nice. I love the red contrast zipper:

I use this bag very often :).

The reason for posting about this bag swap so late, was my further education which includes a lot of learning all those new medical terms. This is a totaly new part for me but it is also really interesting.
And my old PC got out of order and I have a new one now.

Kristina, I hope you have the same fun with the bag I have sewn for you as I have with your bag you have sewn for me :).

A new pencil case......

.... for me :).

I need it because I am back school since October 1st. For the next two years I make a further education in medical documentation.

The pencil case pattern was published in August this year on the Sew Mama Sew-blog.

I have used an Alexander Henry Fabric and an unknown brand fabric in black with white dots for the lining.

From these fabrics I have also planned to sew a great bag. I have already cut it out and ironed on the interfacing. I hope I have time to sew it this week.

crochet - first attempts

Hi there,

everywhere I see those wonderful crochet flowers, granny squares and a lot more beautiful things.

Crochet? Me? Long long ago in my childhood there was something called chain stitches *g*. Also knitting is not really something I could, just scarfs are easy, I have tried socks, but that was horrible (now my aunt is knitting them for me).

But crochet? Ok, lets give it a try. I've bought some crochet hooks and two balls of wool and start with the different things that goes beyond chain stitches. I am sorry, but I am not firm yet with those special chrochet vocabulary and leo.dict.org isn't helpful for this :(.

Here is now a pic from my first flower attempt *g*:

the next attempt is much better:

and changing colors is really easy:

My first conclusion: Crochet is much more easier than knitting and makes more fun.
Now I need some more colors. They are already ordered and I hope I will get them on Friday or Saturday.
